The Challenge:

In 2018, Dominion Energy eagerly anticipated the 10th anniversary of Dominion Energy Riverrock, a renowned outdoor sports and music festival held annually in Richmond, Virginia. As the milestone event approached, Dominion Energy recognized an opportunity to elevate employee engagement and foster a stronger sense of community among its downtown workforce. Seeking to harness the celebratory spirit of the anniversary, Dominion Energy sought to create a series of events surrounding the festival for their employees.

To achieve this goal, Dominion Energy enlisted the expertise of Wilkinson Sports Advisory to assist with the development of a comprehensive employee engagement program.

The Solution:

WSA collaborated closely with the Dominion Energy and Sports Backers events team to develop and implement a comprehensive employee engagement program tailored to the 10th anniversary celebration of Dominion Energy Riverrock.

The itinerary included a river clean-up initiative, aligning with the organization’s commitment to preserving natural resources and promoting sustainable practices. In addition to the clean-up effort, employees were led on a hike through Brown’s Island and Belle Isle. In a nod to holistic well-being and in conjunction with the festival’s vendor, Project Yoga, WSA planned yoga classes to be held at two, downtown Dominion Energy locations. The week culminated in a vibrant happy hour, featuring live music as well as giveaways and snacks. The event was held directly before Riverrock kicked-off and provided an exciting atmosphere for participants to unwind, socialize and celebrate the opening of the festival.

The Result:

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Wilkinson Sports Advisory, Dominion Energy and the Sports Backers team, the 10th anniversary celebration of Dominion Energy Riverrock was a resounding success.
